Maine challenges 'national champs' UCF to game in only a way Twitter can love; Knights respond

Oh, social media, how we love thee.

As college football teams scramble as the Carolinas brace for Hurricane Florence, the Maine football team took to Twitter to challenge, or, perhaps troll the UCF Knights.

UCF, which was recognized in the NCAA record books as a national champion, had a game with North Carolina canceled due to Florence.

The game was originally scheduled to kick off at noon Saturday in Chapel Hill.

This isn't anything new for the Knights.

Due to Hurricane Irma last season, UCF's game with Maine was canceled.

The Black Bears haven't forgotten.

Hey UCF,

We're sorry to hear that your game is cancelled this weekend. Still waiting to hear about the makeup date from our 2017 cancellation...

We have an open date this Saturday at Alfond Stadium.

Whad'ya say, National Champs?

The Knights responded, naturally.

It was all in good fun. Maine did wish all those in the path of the hurricane best wishes.

We hope @TarHeelFootball, @UCF_Football and everyone affected by Hurricane Florence stays safe!

See, sometimes trolling can actually be done in good fun.
